Study Original Christian Science
The Christian Science Endtime Center offers a series of online classes for students who wish to deepen their understanding of original Christian Science. Each class is designed for individual study and can be taken at your own pace.
Our classes draw on the writings of Mary Baker Eddy and the early students of Christian Science. They are designed to support careful, systematic study of the original teachings, and to help students understand those teachings in their historical and spiritual context.
The Classes
Day 1
The Discovery of Christian Science
An introduction to Mary Baker Eddy's discovery of Christian Science in 1866 and the early development of her thought. We examine the key passages in Science and Health that describe the discovery and consider what Eddy understood herself to have found.
Day 2
The Nature of God in Christian Science
A close study of Mary Baker Eddy's seven synonyms for God — Life, Truth, Love, Soul, Spirit, Mind, and Principle — and the implications of her understanding of God for healing and daily life.
Day 3
Man as the Reflection of God
An examination of Mary Baker Eddy's teaching on the nature of man as the spiritual reflection of God. We consider what it means to understand man as spiritual and perfect, and how this understanding supports healing.
Day 4
The Christ and Christian Science
A study of Mary Baker Eddy's teaching on the Christ — the divine idea of God — and its relationship to Jesus of Nazareth. We examine the distinction Eddy draws between Jesus and the Christ, and its significance for Christian Science practice.
Day 5
Healing in Christian Science
An introduction to the practice of healing in Christian Science. We examine the basis of healing in Eddy's teaching, the role of prayer, and the relationship between understanding and demonstration.
Day 6
The Church and the Movement
A study of the history of the Christian Science movement from 1875 to 1910, with particular attention to the founding of the Church, the role of the Bible Lesson, and the development of the organization under Mary Baker Eddy's leadership.
