Biography
Annie M. Knott was one of the most prominent Christian Science teachers and practitioners of the early movement. Born in England in 1850, she came to Christian Science in the 1880s and became a student of Mary Baker Eddy, from whom she received her class instruction.
Knott was a prolific writer and contributed regularly to The Christian Science Journal and the Christian Science Sentinel. Her articles are notable for their clarity, depth, and practical application of Christian Science to the problems of daily life.
She served on the Board of Lectureship of The Mother Church and was one of the most sought-after lecturers in the movement. Her lectures were known for their warmth, directness, and spiritual insight.
Knott continued her work in Christian Science until late in her life. She died in 1941 at the age of ninety-one, having devoted more than fifty years to the practice and teaching of Christian Science.
