Biography

Bliss Knapp was the son of Ira O. Knapp, one of the original members of the Christian Science Board of Directors. He grew up in the Christian Science movement and received his class instruction from Mary Baker Eddy herself.

Knapp became a Christian Science teacher and practitioner and was active in the movement for many decades. He is best known for his book Destiny of The Mother Church, which presents his understanding of the role of Mary Baker Eddy in the history of Christianity.

He contributed articles to The Christian Science Journal and the Christian Science Sentinel, and his writings reflect a deep commitment to the original teachings of Mary Baker Eddy.

Knapp died in 1958. His writings continue to be studied by students of Christian Science who are interested in the early history of the movement and the teachings of Mary Baker Eddy.
